What tent to purchase.
I'm checking Ebay for tents and there are to many to choose from. I'm looking at new ones and was hoping on something in the way of a 6 person tent. Any particular brands out there that are good such as Coleman etc? Or anyone have a great place to look?

I am a pretty avid camper, and I have been using the Coleman Weathermaster for about 3 years now. It has 3 rooms and easily sleeps 5 people....6 is probably doable. It has been a great tent so far. I would just recommend having a tarp over it incase of heavy downpour.

I thought we took away your ebay privileges.
if your just useing it for a couple of times a year.
eureka (sp) is a good brand and usually cost much less than a colman.
and Tarps are a must over any tent if your staying for like a week

www.cabelas.com is a good place to look at tents and check features. They have a pretty good selection of very good tents.
Are you looking for something light-weight? Something that has tons of room? Something you're only going to take on car-camping trips?
If you are buying something that has to fit a bunch of people, and it doesn't matter if it'* a bit big, buy a cabin tent, one of the big square ones. They're easy to put up, have tons of usable floor space, and most people can stand up comfortably inside one.
If you plan on using the tent for smaller outings, as well, you may want to consider buying several smaller tents. That way you don't have to haul out a huge tent if you feel like going camping by yourself.
Take a look at how the poles are routed, the more places that poles cross each other, the harder the tent is going to be to pitch.
Whatever you end up buying, make sure it has a heavy-duty rain-fly, and make sure to use a ground cloth(heavy plastic sheeting works best, and it'* cheap.) Also pick up some Seam-Sealer and hit the seams with it. It will keep them from leaking.

What kind of camping? I've been using the same tent I bought at WalMart for about 5 years. We only use it for about 4 days max, but it holds a king size air mattress with room to walk around. And I can stand up in it.

I have a SWISS one... 6-8 person, this ginormous 6-8 person tent. I have used it a few times now... still relatively new but it'* great. It down poured once and it didn't leak at all. I would definately recommend it, just be sure to put a tarp underneath it... but that'* normal for any tent!
I bought mine at a walmart early last year

Tent purchase is on hold as per your gracious instructions,
I'm still the winning bidder on the Tool Box, but the reserve hasn't been met. Another $100.00 and I'm not the highest bidder.
With your guidance I have decided not to purchase the car.
