EDIT: Minimum wage should stay lower like it is in my opinion because adults who are supporting a family should NOT be working a job that pays minimum wage. It'* more meant for those who work part time that are working for extra money, not to live off of. Can you live off of minimum wage? No. That'* not what it'* meant for IMO. If it'* raised too high the only thing it'* going to do is make it even HARDER to get jobs because everyone makes so much more money, including minors. The money has to come from somewhere to pay for the extra labor.

$5.85 in South Carolina. I own a pizza delivery store so I see the other side of what the min. wage does and doesn't do. It does not help a lot of people lift themselves up by their bootstraps, because if they are not going to do the things that are necessary to better themselves to get a raise then why should they bother if the govt is just going to give them more for the job they are doing? I also see people order food and complain about how much the prices change. You explain that the federal min wage went up and their answer is,"Good! People need to be paid more for the job they do." , but then they still give you grief as they shut the door or leave the store complaining about the price of food. Where do they think all the $$ in the country comes from? All of it, either through consuming goods and services or taxes comes from you and me.
