I watched it dump out about 3 quarts of oil. Pretty sure its leaking from the oil pressure switch. Go figure, I spent $130 on a new battery for it today, and this is how it thanks me.

Travis u sure it is not the oil filter that is loose? That is a lot of oil to loose over how long?
If it is the pressure sender, you are going to have to pull it, inspect for cracks, try re-taping it with plumbers tape and re install it.

The filter and area around it were dry. The oil was all around the starter area, but I did double check the filter and it was tight. The oil loss was over 2-3 minutes. Luckily it happened in the parking lot of my apartment building, so I was just sitting idling instead of driving. I think that'* what saved me from any damage (hopefully).

Had to fix the old craftsman mower today! The self propulsion belt broke and wrapped its self around the crankshaft causing lots if smoke and vibration half way through cutting the grass. I was able to cut out the remains of the belt and get the mower running again but I had to actually push the damn thing! I forgot how heavy them things are. Still mowing the grass In the middle of November! Welcome to California folks.
