treated the monte to some new bfg tires today, sick of the noise and sliding around in the snow from the junk goodyears. then she treated me to a gas leak. and the lone hood strut doesnt work in the cold either. i hope this car isnt going to have the same attitude the bonnie has had forever. not looking good though so far

Fired up the Cutlass for the first time in 2014 and moved it out of the shed and into the garage yesterday. I wanted to install my new gauge cluster.
The adapter I had to custom build.

I barely had to touch the key to get this beast to start up. It did greet me with a whining power steering pump.

Gotta love the early 90s digital technology.

That cluster looks sweet, and it looks like it all works!
How cold is it there?
PS pump take a while to warm up, typical GM.

Yesterday was warm about 34*F here. Today it'* going to get really cold with lows in negative teens. Windchills could get up to -40*F.
The cluster works great. I need to change out my temp and oil pressure sender to a 1991 3.4 car. So I can get a correct reading.

i noticed an odd vibration coming home from work today. thought it was an offbalance wheel. turns out all 4 wheels look like this.

one time i had that coming home from work and i cleared the crap on the fender and it was still there. drove home slow and put it on ramps and found that a bunch of that slush had piled up on the inside of the rim on the way to work and froze there at work so it wouldnt come out until i heated it up in the garage

I had to use a jet heater on the 03 Bonne once because the area around the passenger side driveaxle was packed with nothing but snow and ice. Could have torn the boot off had I drove with it like that for long

sort of a rant more than anything but the monte has 75k and needs both front wheel bearings. so its not bad enough they put junk bearings on it, they still put the bolts on the wrong side so you have to fight the cv, ended up breaking a socket. and frustrated enough to wait till tomorrow to try the other side. my 98 bonnie had bearings that lasted like 150k and had a hole in the thing so you could put a bolt in the front, talk about common sense escaping these engineers
