It was caused by an oil leak. Guess it was getting on the manifolds. She pulled up with white smoke coming out of the hood. She left it running and came inside, then the smoke turned black. 911 got called and they just towed the car today.

That'* an actual recall on the plastic spark plug holder on the front cylinder head. Hot oil leaks from the valve cover, drips onto the exhaust manifold, catches fire, burns the plastic wire holder and well, you get see the rest above. I've seen about 10 of these cars in the junkyard with similar fires.
This could have been prevented 1 of 2 ways.
1. GM could have done a better recall campaign.
2. Owner should open hood more often to check for things like this.

I changed the brake fluid in the GP today and next week the VW needs to go in for service. Which is good because it'* getting really dirty and the washer fluid is low. I wish all my cars were maintenance free.

Glad my L67 doesn't have that leak. Instead, it leaks from the oil pressure sending switch.
Her leak must have been really bad. She said she was having to add 1.5 quarts a day. Guess she didn't look to see where it was coming from.
