In the first of what is expected to be a broader crackdown against auto customization shops, federal regulators on Wednesday imposed a $16,000 fine on West Coast Customs, the auto body shop affiliated with "Pimp My Ride," an MTV reality show that makes over rundown cars.

I was under the impression that any TV visible to the driver was illegal in the first place. But a screen right in the wheel, where you can't even use your periphial vision to keep your eyes on the road is just stupid.....

The monitors in the steering wheels is stupid. It'* not fair for every other innocent driver sharing the road with a moron who'* watching TV in his steering wheel instead of concentrating on the road. Those are innocent lives at risk because the driver isn't paying attention to the road.
You're comparing apples to oranges.
I support the Feds 100%.

ok feds are retarded for fining them with for a tv in the steering wheel. its all customization for show. i highly doubt that anyone would try to watch a tv in their steering wheel while driving because its gonna always be turning and you have to actually aim your head down to look at it. i think the idea is cool but yes it is unsafe but if people want to modify their car in this way they know that they are substituting a tv for an airbag. its not like they are trying to trick the people into thinking that the tv will save them. you can actually buy kits to disable your airbags which would be the same thing and that is not considered illegal and in trucks some have keys to disable airbags and that is not illegal either. i am not seeing how it is illegal to remove an airbag from a car. its all for show, people are just trying to be different with style doing things that most cars do not. I have sunvisor screens and i could never imagine watching something and not keeping my mind on the road. They are for show I do not actually watch the screens when driving, i mean really why would i watch a movie to crash my car? doesnt seem like a very smart idea. if you intend on watching a movie while driving you shouldnt even be driving in the first place.
