Well, it rained 2 inches in about an hour and a half I think...

Some bad news. Aparently my Renter'* Insurance does not cover sewer backup and they only just started offering it recently(just got the letter on it at my parent'* house today) and they only cover appliances. Hopefully my roommate'* covers it since he is from out of state the policy might be different. If not, we are going back on the land lord. He told us it had come up once before, but only an inch or so in the low side and that most of the basement stayed dry. There are plenty of other things here that we are not pleased about also.

As of right now, there is a lot of wet stuff in the basement and a bunch of mud as well. Going to be writing a letter to the land lord here shortly.

Not a happy camper right now....

Man that really sux, We just had the same thing happen in southern Ontario last month the ski went from overcast to pitch black in only 5 min (as dark as it would be at 10pm or something) and it was 3pm at the time (I got luck and had no flooding) the insurance clames from the storm have now set a record for the highest doller amout for claims in Ontario'* history

ok... got good news today. Rochester water authority stopped by today and looked at it and all the stuff ruined and said to call in monday to the claims department with a list of Items that were damaged. Hopefully I will get some compensation.

Itemize EVERYTHING, but try to be honest with what was down there and what was not. If you can, quote actual replacement cost as of today. That would be the best bet to get as much compensation as possible.

It stinks when crap like this happens: I was flooded last fall and my hot water tank went under about 12" I thought I was pretty smart to use the hair dryer to dry up the burner, read the directions on the tank, and lite the pilot light w/out blowing up the house. But..BUT...because the tank had gone totally cold, the extra pressure in the tank (when re-heating the 40gals) blew a hole in my expansion tank! (it was rusty on top where I couldn't see it)....I ended up having to pay the plumber $130 afterall to install a stupid expansion tank (that costs only $40 at home depot) because I couldn't do it myself!

Cost of expansion tank: $40
Cost of hiring a plumber: $130
Cost of being a single women without pipe wrenches: $90
Getting the job done without calling the ex-husband: PRICELESS!
