It was seized up, had been rained on, sat for years, just wasted. The oil that came out of it was completely black. Looked like someone had literally been beating on it. It was just destroyed.

And yeah 0.05 a pound is about right for dirty steel, if you stripped, cleaned it and seperated the dis-simillar metals you would get 0.10 a pound
Clean copper is about $1.00 a pound these days.
