I've always wanted to give universities outside of America a consideration, and I wasn't considering any college outside America until a friend of mine mentioned Waterloo as a good engineering school. So I was just wondering if any of you Canooks out there has had any experiences there, or have heard anything about it. Thanks a bunch!

Its an incredible school, I've known many people that go or who have graduated from Waterloo University. Its located in Kitchener-Waterloo and is also the home city of RIM Technologies (ie Blackberry), its wicked developing technological hub thanks to RIM.

The school itself is steeped in tradition and has a great Engineering and Architectural program. There is another smaller university called Wilfred Laurier and they're know for business degrees.

Very good school if you are considering it.

I 3rd the notion. Friends that have gone there had no complaints and all were able to get jobs right after graduation.

Very well renouned for its Co-op program. School and work alternating every four months. That'* the only way I could afford to go.

One of the very first computer languages was developed in those UofW labs.

I worked with a couple Waterloo 4th year co-op students during one of my own work terms, one Mechanical and one Chem. Brilliant guys they were.

That'* awesome. I think co-ops are so important in this kind of field. With Kettering, you graduate with 2.5 years of experience under your belt, so you can get going right out of college, and I'm glad Waterloo seems the same. Sounds like a good alternative to Kettering, especially if I end up not wanting to go into Automotive... Sounds like I might be going up to Toronto soon

While you are up in the area...you really should check out RIT in Rochester.

Waterloo is south of Toronto about a two hour drive.
Lots of German heritage in the area so the Oktoberfests in the Fall are really good.
