I haven't seen the movie yet either. My brother got it for Christmas and I plan on watching it though. But just like any film of this nature, and the media in general for that matter, it'* meant to shock and spread fear, in order to make as much of an impact on society as possible (IMO).

In my humble opinion, it'* disregarding the bigger picture. No one knows if it'* global warming. Assumptions are made and fingers are pointed. In my own personal opinion, it'* just part of the cycle, and we have no control over that. Maybe we have sped the cycle up, or maybe we've slown it down. I don't know. I do know this. Not one person, or generations of people has been around long enough to see an entire cycle through. Again, this is my own personal opinion.

The Missus made me watch the Oprah show where she interviewed him regarding this movie. I haven't seen the movie, and admittedly do not know much about this issue in general, but his information seemed pretty slanted. And, when anyone (in cluding The Oprah) would ask a question poiting this out, he went in to full politician mode and sie-stepped it. Actions like these always cause me to doubt the "facts" the speaker are presenting.
My opinion on stuff like this in general is that it feels (to me) just a bit off. I can't justify my feeling, but I always feel as if some important information is either missing or being mis-represented.
Again, these are my opinions/gut feelings only. Not meant to rile anybody up or deny their claims.

alarmist and overstatated.
for an example: just look. he referenced katrina as being an example of what can happen. Katrina devastated New Orleans not because of its power - it really wasnt all that big in the power scheme. it devastated new orleans because some lackey workers half-assed their job on the levy. or better yet, some lackey politicians half-assed the funding to keep it current.
to say that the levys broke because of global warming is alarmist at best, completely untrue at worst.
