US vs. European DVDs - Not Compatible?
Anyone know anything about the compatibility/incompatibility of US vs European DVDs?
While in Scotland, I bought a DVD of a concert movie I have been wanting for years. I tried to watch it Sunday, but it seems out of synch, much like old VHS players that couldn't adjust timing. Nothing I do seems to make it play any better.
Am I screwed or is there something I can do?
BTW, I'm trying to play it on my Sony CD/DVD player on TV, so software fixes won't work until I buy a laptop sometime in the future.
Help....dammit!

I have a fairly cheap dvd player but in the menu system it has the option for pal or ntsc might check though the DVD players settings for this. (has a multi option too not sure what it'* for )
Not sure if changing it will work or just confuse the TV but worth a try I guess.

I'l have to go back into the manual and see what options I still have. I tried a bunch of things with no success.
I'll also do a google search.
Thanks for educating me on this, everyone.
I'm a bit unhappy, as this was the full uncut version of Neil Young'* Rust Never Sleeps concert movie from the late 70s or early 80s. I had not seen it available here in the states, but truthfully haven't searched online for it yet either. I'm somewhat of a Neil Young fan....

PAL vs NTSC has to do with how the pixels refresh in a pattern or frequency, at least with TVs. It may be applied differently with DVDs.
