Who knows...maybe you'll find a better place, cheaper than the one you're in now. That would be cool! Things always seem to happen for a reason... Example...if it wasn't for my divorce, I'd have never finished my degree nor would I have pursued my singing career.

Sooner or later, you'll know what it is...if the stress of working through it does't get to you first.

Wow, so much to reply to.
Already checking the used stores and what not. Actually, Habitat has one that they run to make money to support the program, so I am going to check with them. Kinda makes sense for me to support them, you know? Really don't want to go the finance route if I don't have to, but that is a good idea if necessary, thanks for the idea. Cant remember if that apartment my friend has has a stove and fridge or not. I fit does, he would probably be willing to let us use it for a bit I think.

Tracy, thanks for the motivating words. I have no doubt this will be better for my family in the end. But yeah, the stress is really getting to me. The fact that this happened to us with no fault of our own really gets to me, and the financial burden 2 months before Christmas really gets me down too.

Mos, you haven't met my kids. Even the Humane Society wouldn't take them.
Actually, we have always wanted a family pet, and will be getting one once we get into our house, but if we get get one now that would be great.

You've got the right approach Brian.. take the high road, look to the future opportunities and move forward. Very admirable.

Brian:
You are on the right path. Find another temporary place and purchase items that will fit into your new home in the coming year.

Habitat is a wonderful program. I volunteer once a year through our church and the experience is one that you do not forget. As you know a house through the HFH program is not a free ride. A lot of time and dedicated effort is put into the home and other homes by the recipient. Most recipients keep on volunteering after any obligation is met.

I will keep your tough times in my prayers and ask for a resolution that will be beneficial to your family. Everything happens for a purpose and what matters is what you do with your problem. You are tackling the problem head on and I admire you for that extra effort. Your family must be proud of you.

Also, watch the craigslist stuff and be mindful of what you respond to

example. You don't want ones like this:

http://erie.craigslist.org/apa/443300381.html
http://erie.craigslist.org/apa/443278704.html
These are foreclosure-ready houses, not actual apartments and you would be taking over a lease. Plus the way they list the number and such. this gets a 50/50 chance of being a scam in my book, but that'* more than enough for me to stay away.

And this one:
http://erie.craigslist.org/apa/443152050.html
http://erie.craigslist.org/apa/440720330.html
Anything with a graphic stating the website, or are put up multiple times I shy away from. The site is usually just a re-direct site someone is using to make money off by sending traffic to another site. (by me, the graphic state the address is 35homes. com)

These are legit:
http://erie.craigslist.org/apa/439978119.html - too small for you
http://erie.craigslist.org/apa/441632015.html - 3br
http://erie.craigslist.org/apa/441629654.html - 3br
http://erie.craigslist.org/apa/440120850.html - 3br house
http://erie.craigslist.org/apa/439060646.html - 2br, no pets
http://erie.craigslist.org/apa/438879886.html - Too small, but another example.
http://erie.craigslist.org/apa/435754544.html - 2br, $400/mo
http://erie.craigslist.org/apa/435433799.html - 2br newer

Not sure what your looking to pay, but those range from $400-750/mo.

If you can afford $650 plus utilities, you might want to check into this one as well: http://erie.craigslist.org/apa/427677005.html
