Tranny fluid in a S10 can someone help?

Well it has Dexron III in it as of now......
I have not picked it up..but i know its ready.
GM dealership looked it up and said Dexron III
Along with the Specialty Transmission shop that does them all day thought
it was supposed to be Dexron III
WTF?
I will have it changed if I have to....but I am hearing from more then one source
that ATF is very common now adays in manual trans. ??

That dealer is wrong, they should have looked in GM Dealerworld, simple as that. ATF has only a viscosity equivelent to 20w oil, so I'd change your fluid ASAP, otherwise you are going to have troubles!
Some manuals DO use ATF, and some Isuzu FWD 5 speeds used 5W30 engine oil. Transmissions are something I personally think fluid recommendations should be strictly followed, I've seen what can happen otherwise! Good Luck!

thanks for all your help....you guys are so responsive and that is why i still i hang around here.....
Will have to get it to the dealer for that fluid....
I wish GM just had put it in the manual....bums!
