My mom sells antiques on ebay as well, and has had some big sells herself ($10k on two sells so far). Mostly she just sells little $5-$10 items, but occasionally she'll find something at a garage sale (that'* where someone'* junk become'* another man'* treasure), and bring it home for a resale on ebay. One that she had a was the very first card of Tiger Woods. She bought a box of Kids Sports Illustrated and was flipping through and found a page of uncut card. There in the center was a Tiger Woods card, perfectly centered. She knew Tiger Woods products were in demand so she sent it in to be PSA graded. Got it back with a quote of $7.5k -it was the best one they'd seen and before they sent it back they called and asked if she'd sell it to them (the whole magazine as it was worth more uncut and still in the magazine).
She got it back and thought about selling it for 2 weeks, then decided to see what she could get for it on E-bay. When the auction ended there had been like 50+ bids, and the final bid was @ $11,xxx.xx!!!! Heck, she had only paid $1.50 for the whole box of like 20-30 magazines. Now that'* a profit.
