Is there a DJ in the Lounge?
Ok...
I DJ part time, more or less a hoby that I hope takes off, and i'm having a bit of trouble with my computer program PCDJ that i use... is there anyone here that is familar with that program? I am trying to find some andswers from PCDJ'* own forums but the traffic there is terribly slow...
I just bought a new USB mixer and i can't get it to work proberly with PCDJ....

Its a Numark DM950 USB
and the computer program is PCDJ RED VRM
i can't get player one to go to chanel one on the mixer and player two to go to channel two.
i've been told that the mixer is suposed to immitate two sound cards, and you send each player to one of the sound cards (using the cfg settings) but i can't figure it out...

Pulled from the manual:
HARDWARE Tab for Setting up Sound card
Soundcard Settings will vary depending on what type of Soundcard you have and which mixer you are using. Whether it be PCDJ’* built in Software Mixer, or an External DJ Mixer, or using the generic Single Channel Soundcard that came with your computer or the Multichannel Soundcard you purchased from Visiosonic.
If you are not sure what type of sound card is installed in your PC or have not purchased a professional sound card from Visiosonic, You are most likely to have a generic single output sound card that does not allow for Cueing (Pre-listening) of your mix. If you have only one sound card with one single stereo out, no changes are required. PCDJ Software should have already set itself to use the default sound card. The output of both Player “1” and Player “2”, CueMix, Metronome and Loop Editor go to the single output channel of your sound card. This setting is basically for hobby use only, as you cannot achieve true stereo separation and will not be able to cue up your mix using only one sound card. You may proceed to the Interface section.
I guess it is saying that unless you have a multichannel soundcard you can only route the both channels to only one. I have an M-Audio studiophile 2496 which was only about $100 and its got a stereo pair out and a stereo pair in as well as midi and SPDIF (Digital inputs) You may want to try and upgrade your current audio card if you havent already.
GOod luck!!

Hmm... well from what i found out from Numark, the mixer is suposed to be 2 sound cards itself. so i need to figure out how to specify that in the hardware settings...
where you select the decive output (or whatever they call it, i don't remember) i chose the USB audio CODEC. and the guy i bought the mixer from said to set one player to channel 1/2 and the other to channel 3/4. argh... good thing i bought it 2 months before i needed it!

I stoped in at the shop i purchased the mixer from today after work and they said that Numark has had this problem but they thought they had it resolved... lucky me though, one of the guys working at the shop is good friends with someone onthe development team for PCDJ! so we are in the process of trying to figure it out.
it was interisting to see the guys in the shop pull out another mixer (same as mine) and hook it up to their floor model stuff with PCDJ to see if it would work. it didn't... and we are waitng for PCDJ to respond.
