i probably use about 1500 texts a month, its just easier sometimes, especially if you want to ask a simple question that you want a simple answer for and dont want to end up having 10 minute conversation (ladies... :P )

I text out of necessity, unless you understand distorted or unclear words, I'm going to have to text.
Even then, I don't go beyond 1500 per month

Just curious, you 1000 to 2000 per month txt messagers, what did you used to do when there were no cell phones, or you simply didn't have one? Second question, what would happen if you didn' t have one anymore?

I have had my phone since I was 15, (8 years) and I have had the same number the entire time. Those of you that know my number, know how cool it is
If I forget my phone at home, I freak out all day. I continuously check my voicemail from other phones and have even gone as far as changing my voicemail greeting to mention that I don't have my phone with me

Some interesting thoughts and opinions here. SOME simply don't have any personal restraint and can't leave their phones alone for even short periods of time.
More often than I'd care to remember, I'm in the back of an ambulance with a patient cruising down the highway at 110km/hr. What is my partner doing??? Texting frickin' messages. I've had strong words on more than one occasion over this.
I'm not big on texting. In fact I've probably sent about 9 in the years I've had a phone. I like to talk to people. I like to hear people laugh. I want to hear the expression in their voice.
More later... gotta run!

The only way I can talk to my kids is by texting. Other than that, I call.
With three cell phones on my plan with just about all the options my bill is always around $200. (I had four but someone lost one for the last time)
Even with this, we have to regulate closely to keep away from the $300 bills.
Most of my calls are long distance because of where I live. $2/min with roaming charges.
I agree with Tracy

Back to the topic at hand. I hate texting AND I love it.
Hate it when I'm driving - it'* a distraction. Love it anywhere else - it'* convenient, you don't have to answer right away if you're busy, unlike a phone call.
Hate it when the conversation drags out - agreed that it takes longer to text that a phone call. Love it for the little quick communications like: "Mom, I made it back to college safe"
And yes...it is GREAT for flirting...at ANY age.
