Sweet Jesus...***PICS***
...my Brother just took out the garage door.
Not sure what happened. He got in, clutch in, turned the key, and it took off and ran into the garage door.
It wasn't the classic "forgot to put in the clutch", or anything, I saw him clutch.
The car started just fine, ran about four seconds, then kicked forward and hit the garage door.
My Brother is fine, so am I(I was standing next to the car), so is the car(with the exception of some paint on the bumper and whatever made the clutch fail),but the door is demolished. The car pushed the door in about 8" before my Brother got the key turned off. The bottom two panels are completely off the rails on the side where it hit, and the entire thing is dished in. It won't open because all the hinges are bent.
The worst is that this is his little 93 Duster, that he bought to race. The only reason he'* driving it right now is that his Avenger has a f*cked up tranny, so he has no vehicle at all. He'* going to borrow Dad'* big Ford truck for a few days.
Jesus, man, I think I'm gonna be up for a while now. I've got so much adrenaline going right now, I'm having trouble typing. I thought he was going to go all the way through the door!
Thankfully, we haven't had a car in there since we moved in, 15 years ago, so none of us are stuck in there.
He'* gonna come back out tomorrow, and we'll find out if something IS wrong with the car, or if HE did something wrong. But I severely doubt it was his fault. I've never seen him do ANYTHING even remotely unsafe around a car. He'* the one who gave me all the safety talks when I was doing driver'* ed.
Anyway, I'll get some pics of the devastation posted tomorrow. I'm going to go have quiet hysterics now. bye.

Wow, thats pretty weird. Glad to hear your both ok, and hopefully the garage door won't cost much. I witnessed a similar thing - except my neighbour was drunk, and when he came home he drove right through the damn thing in his Olds LSS. That car plowed it right down.

So why did he start the car without the garage door open in the first place...trying to suffocate himself?
Don't get me wrong, I feel sorry for him, and that really sucks, but seems kinda dumb to start the car up with the garage closed.

I once seen a pickup make a drive through out of a convenience store, I was literally a couple feet away.
It was the guys friend that was drunk and/or high and was a passenger, the guy parked at the end of the lot, he went into the store. Next thing you know the friend decided to move the truck. instead of hitting the brake, he hit the gas. It jumped the curb and plowed right into the front of the store, you actually could go through the front of the store to get in, instead of walking through the door. I was actually heading into the store, ( a friend broke down and we had some friends in the store and some out of the store working on the car.
I turned around started to walk into the store when the truck beat me to the front door. That was quite the rush when it happened. Took me all night to get over it.

I didn't always have my foot on the brake when I started my truck. I remember alot of times where I used to just clutch it and as it was rolling a bit I would crank it over. Plus I used to always shut the truck off and leave it in first gear. Sometimes I used to shift into neutral before cranking over and sometimes not.
I can easily see that happen. My truck had the slave cylinder go out twice on it. Wich means that you would push the clutch in, turn the key and if it was in gear, away you went.
Made it very difficult to drive it with no clutch. I started to learn how to drive that truck with no clutch, but stop signs are impossible, lol.
Each time the slave cylinder went out I did not drive it, it got towed to the garage, but when I had a clutch I wold practice driving without it.
