9 hours and still no power. Mini fridge already dethawed, luckily the beer is still cold.

That was the plan, till I fell asleep.

Ahh, lukewarm string cheese and orange juice, breakfast of champions. Going on 17 hours with no power. Good news is power should be back in 2.5 hours. Bad news is if they haven't even sent a crew out yet, they just estimate 2.5 hours until a crew gets there. Its been a loooong 2.5 hours.

We will have a crew there between 10am and noon, the next day.

The longest I went here without power was 5 days. This was during a heavy snow storm and freezing weather. That storm convinced me to get a generator to power he house on and not the little 1000w Honda that I had used to keep things running. Made coffee on the gas grill, warmed the house with portable kerosene heaters and a propane fireplace insert and keep the dog nearby when I need some extra feet warming.

Generator would be a great investment, but a good one is expensive.

A good alternative is a couple good coolers for the food and a battery backup for the sump pumps. I have a gas stove, grill, and water heater, so I was fine in that regard.

Looks like you have more storms heading your way. Lots of tornado warnings oping up all over.

Great.. I guess we had two buildings burn down in my area from this last storm which is part of the reason we lost power for so long. 28 hours was the final count I believe. Hopefully we make it through this next round of storms with power intact and no more buildings burning down.
