that is so stupid how the law system is now.. It'* sad to say that Justice is blind.. and seems you'll have to seek justice out yourself.. but yet get sued for. I heard a couple years ago that someone in Toronto'* house had been broken into several times through the basement window, and the cops could care less bout it. So the owner decided to put a piece of wood and nails stickin up under the window.. sure enough a few weeks later they tried to break in and got their foot stuck to the nails.. the owner of the house ( in which I think was defending his property, and lives of those in the house ) was sued and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, aggraveted assault and something else. He had to pay close to a million cause the robber claimed he could not walk for several months. So it seems laws nowadays protect the criminal more then the victim... in which case I guess it'* time for me to go make a few quick bux and go steal some Civics.. and if the owner hits me.. I"ll sue.. if the cops tries to arrest me.. I"ll sue for "police Brutality"
what a sad sad world we live in. Hate to see what the next generation is going to put up with

I mostly agree with you, but I do feel the intense need to point out that booby traps are never a good idea. There are statistics I've seen that clearly show that the people most commonly harmed by them are the person who set them up or innocent children. I have read a news article about a guy who set up a shotgun in his shed to go off if someone opened the door because it had been burglarized several times...he blew his own child'* head off.
IMO, it'* just not ever worth it. Granted a few nails in a board is a bit different (and definately not lethal), but wouldn't an alarm or dog be better?

Dogs and alarms cost money for upkeep and service. A scrap piece of plywood and some 16 penny nails are dirt cheap. A gun in my house is out of the question (not because I am against guns--I enjoy shooting) because I have children and my wife doesn't want any around. I will honor her wish. The "nails in the board" booby trap is a passive theft deterrent with no inertia to force it into an innocent party. Only those who are unaware of its presence and unlawfully gaining access are at risk.

Just my opinion.

I've put some tacks sticking up through my seats after I parked my car (my first car). Just in case some dumbass wanted to steal the POS, he'd sit in it and get some more holes put in his A$$. But he would have probably sued me now that I think of it

You know the saying about a blind man leading another blind man?
Well thats the way courts work too. Since justice is blind, and since it leads the courts, the court is blind. Would not a criminal have to confess to Breaking and Entering and theft, to be able to collect that money? After all he has no legal right to be where he was.
