Sony announces Alpha 700 DSLR: to compete with 40D and D300
I've been waiting for this. It'll be priced right in between the Canon 40D and Nikon D300, with a feature set that'll definitely match.

ISO 100 to 6400 range. Amazing noise performance from a couple high ISO tests I've seen so far. But of course, the A700 bases a lot off of its predacessor, the Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D:
