Oh yeah about a month ago someone broke one of my vent glasses to get inside to remove the stereo, my tools, the amplifier and the subs I had in the trunk.

Insurance took care of most of it.

NOW folks, just so you know - if you have full coverage, you can probably get your deductable lowered to as little as $50, or possibly none. And it will not cost a whole lot more, it may be cheaper than you think.
I go with allstate, you will have to ask your own insurance companies.

SIDE NOTE - the rear vent glass on a 1999 Buick LeSabre costs about $700. That is with no insurance. I have full covereage.

Now why do people vandalize? Cause they are god damned ******** who have no respect.

I do have full coverage since my co-owner (the bank) requires it (although I would on this car anyway). My deductible for vandalism, etc is $250.00 and right now I'm looking at total costs of $275.00 (excluding glass labour since I just put this in myself). For the $25.00 I'd get back, it just isn't worth having a claim on my record. It seems that whenever they pay out and can't get it back from another party, they just don't seem to forget for a very long time. I've been down that road before :(

So this is some of the damage. As you can see, the rock was fairly large (second pic).

Somebody just had nothing better to do. Turns out that I got everything back. Seems my stuff wasn't that interesting since it was ditched in someones front yard about a block down the street. :?

There was a perfect hand print on the side of the door. It wasn't there the night before because I washed and as usual, hand dried the car. When I called the police, they wouldn't send anyone out because "we don't print cars". Hmmm

Yup. that sucks. But, that was the cheap glass at least, and they didn't trash your dash trying to get the stereo... (Tenny tiny silver lining, huh?)

And, since owning a car, the only time I've ever seen a cop due to a car break-in was when they went through the whole parking lot at an apartment place I live in. Other than that, it'* just call in, get a report for insurance, and move on. It'* just too common and usually too low value for more than that, sad as that sounds.

I can understand that they don;t necessarily actively pursue these things, (although I think they should), they should send soemone out for prints, so if they ever catch someone in the area, or doing similar things, they can run the prints and nail em for this too.

I know how you feel, I had a rock thrown through my Drivers Door Window, it turned out it was some kids thoring rocks at eachother, and one went through my window and they didn't tell anyone untill a week or two later, their Parents paid for the window.

hope all goes well with the removal, glass can be a PITA

...their Parents paid for the window.
That'* nice. A lot of parents now don't want to taek responsibility for their kids actions. But, I hope the parents did someting to make the kids realize the consequences for their actions.

You're absolutely right. I'm a a city of of > 1,000,000 people and our police service just doesn't have the resources. It is a little disappointing though since the print was there just as clear as could be. I am very glad that the damage wasn't worse. There are a couple of things I'll need to work on but overall I was pretty lucky.
