If someone wants to write a personal check, that'* fine. Go with them to the bank it'* being drawn against and cash it. They never want to do that (probably because they know it won't clear).
Be wise with how you collect payment. Trying to do someone a favor now will turn into a nightmare for you later.

SOLD
They came down, looked it over a bunch more. He noticed the thermostat gasket was leaking (that must have just started), but otherwise was very pleased with it again (last time they saw it, it was not washed)
He finally mentioned that he only brought $5500 cash, and I'm thinking, great. I came back at him with $5700, and he went on rambling about not wanting to push me around, blah blah blah. He finally came back at $5600 and I said sold. We walked over to the bank, and did the title transfer and lean release right at the bank.
its gone. I feel sad and happy at the same time. It was hard to watch it drive away. I had a lot of energy into that car. The car is going to a 20yr old, hopefully a good home.
He paid $5600 cash
I made $3100 profit
I paid off both of my car loans
I still had an extra $850 added to my checking account (I owed $2600 on the bonnie)
the end.
