Default site Profile & posting URLs

I was trying to post a URL in a Test message and it doesn't come up as a hyperlink for me. I used the Link Name format and it spit that right back at me character for character instead of a highlighted link. Noticed in my Profile that the "allow html' radio button isn't checked, and it doesn't save it when I do submit it as checked. Is there something I am doing wrong? I've tried changing this in my profile using both Firefox & I.E., didn't work either way. Thanks.

[edit] It looks like the Link worked for me here, but still doesn't in another forum I tried posting a link in

Do you mean you're trying the {url=http://www.whatchamacallit.com}Link Name{/url} trick?? Yes, I used the wrong brackets on purpose)

I just put in the URL like this www.thurs.net/dan/personal/personal.htm and that'* it, no brackets, no clicking on the above URL button, nothing. It shoudl work fine, unless you have spaces in the URL. Type it just as you see it above, no http://, just the URL
