Significant others
since i did learn this early that this is not a guys only forum, i shall refer as significant others when referring to girlfriends, boyfriends, and such!
this is coming from a long drawen out conversation w/ my friends this evening (guys of course) they how ever are all currently single (would have nothing to do w/the fact that they drive well we won't hurt their feelings to much, but u know what i am getting at ) i have recently gotten engaged and they do not understand when i say that she is my best friend, they also don't understand the concept of surprises. these guys do check out this forum so this could prove them wrong
Questions of the evening:
1. is ur sigificant other what u would consider one of ur best friends?
2. to prove them wrong on surprises, what would be one thing that u have done for them or vice versa that was *god help me for this* what we could say a romantic? (i know guys don't like to admit they are romantic but best word to fill the spot)

1. ive had prolly 10 dating girlfriends, and only about 2-3 serious relationships. during those times they were my best friend, and i screwed over a lot of my other friends for them. best friends are not always good i think, equal is best.
2. one time when i was 16, and my gf was 15, i set up a suprise for her. now, you dont understand how much she liked corvettes, i mean this girl was obsessed. i got the balls to go ask one of the guys down the street if he would give her a ride in his 70'* model corvette. he agreed gladly, and gave her a 30 min cruise....she loved me all day long!

From a female perspective:
1. Most definately, I can tell him anything. I like spending time with him and talking to him as much as possible.
2. Romantic gestures.......I can't say

1. Yes, she has to be your best friend, she has to see you like no one else can, at your finest and at your worst....that trust alone, makes your significant other your best friend. I have always thought that you cannot love without being a friend first.
2. One our first date with my girl, we were talking online and she mentioned 3 things that would make a date perfect, so I made sure that Friday night, she got the 3 things she wanted...I think it worked
May not be a 100% suprise, but just proves we CAN listen....lol

Most definately my best friend! As Jim W. so eloquently put it, a best friend loves you when you're at your worst, (which I most often am ) and at your best,..and everything in between!
A best friend will pick u up when ur down, make you smile when you frown, comfort u when you're sad and alone, lend an ear just to let u bitch and moan,...
My baby is the most romantic person alive,..i'm serious!!!

2. I got the balls to walk into victoria'* Secret and buy her a pair of what woman call "Underwear" and what we call "A piece of fishing line tied together." I mean honestly...The biggest piece of fabric on these was probably the tag. But apparently she had wanted them for a long time....just never had the time, but had the money, or never had the money and had the time. So I had both and bought them for her.....I was on the good lil' boy list for quite a while with that one. It really is the small things that really count. lol literally

I have to Agree is Jim W on number one as well. Gotta be friends.
2. I have a habit of just showing up when necessary. Drove from Rochester, NY to Harrisburg, PA unannounced once to surprise my girl cause she was stressed out. Did it again for Lancaster, and plenty of times when I was still living at home.

1. Yes, it is very important that your spouse is your best friend. The bond that grows between a married couple is unbelievable when there is deep trust and love in one another. Being married is neat....each person is commited to the other person so much that everything that they do (well, most anyways) is all in the name of pleasing the other person....that'* true love, to me.
2. Sporadic. Hands down...very important. It adds the element of surprise to the relationship! My wife loves it when I randomly come home and we go out to dinner...or pack up the car on Friday after work and drive to destination unknown...or bring home flowers on a Wednesday just because....or taking her to get a massage just because. It'* those things that mean the most to her.
