Kyle,
I am in no way a fan of the Saturns and would never own one... Have seen a couple in accidents as well... Didn't like what I saw...
But as far as the reliability goes, it seems to have gotten better over the last several years... I feel that the newer Saturns are better cars than they used to be... Much in the way that Hundai is making a name for them selves...
Being that if you were to buy it, you will want to keep the oil changed, and pay close attention to any noise that come from the timming chain area( drivebelt end of the motor )... I have seen too many of these 4 cylinders kill off the timming chain tensioner...
I haven't seen them run hot or need a head gasket... Some have some serious oil consumption issues, others don't burn a drop...
Being that your friend had it and took care of it... It may be a worth while investment...
Good Luck![Wink](https://www.gmforum.com/gm/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

You know Kyle, I was thinking about this saturn thing with you on my ride home today, (feel special), and I think that you couldn't do it. To me you seem like a guy who cares about the car he drives. You want to say to people, "I drive a Pontiac Bonneville and it rocks!" You dont want to say, "Uhh, I drive a saturn, it gets me around." It just seems that you and me are alike in that you care about how you look when your crusin, and I;m sorry but no matter what you do to a saturn, it'* still a saturn in the end.
Now you have my two cents.
Now you have my two cents.

yes it was fixed and almost $10,000 later were probly gonna sell it cuz after the crash its been nothing but problems. but before it was a nice car i bit small for me but its my wifes car and she liked it and thats all that matters.your looking at a 4 banger right good cuz we have we have the V6 and it a saab engine and parts have to be orders and good luck trying to change the oil or working on it unless u have metric tools cuz every thing on the V6 is german
personally id buy an h-body their easy to work on and reliable.

Well, luckily or not, the dilemma has been answered for me. My friend misspoke (or mumbled so bad I misheard him). He can't sell the car for a while, at least not before I go off to college in Jacksonville. So that'* out of the picture. Luckily, an H-body has come in to fill it'* place, hehe

It is too bad about the Saturn, though. I like Saturn. And, hate to disagree with you Garb, but I think the L-series is quite distinctive. At least it'* a good-looking car, unlike most on the road. I could have lived quite comfortably with it. Oh well, time to submit to the O, I guess
