replacing a car battery with capacitors!
so i just stumbled across this video on youtube. to cool not to share.

I don't understand how he is able to do this. Capacitors are not designed to hold vast amounts of power. They are designed to take a charge quickly, and discharge it quickly. Remember taking apart those disposable cameras with flashes? Remember that big capacitor inside of it? Same thing.

batteries are big capacitors, but the thing that gives batteries the advantage over regular caps like he has is the capacity. he is only starting a tiny engine that is already warmed up. if you try to start a larger engine cold i dont think he would fair as well

That is a most interesting video. It obviously holds enough juice to start the 4 bangers.
I dare him to try it below freezing, with no sock over top.
I think we know what would happen overnight..nota..click click..
I am not sure what happens if you put the heat fan on high, lights etc when driving either.
Just for piece of mind, I will take a real battery, no replacement for displacement/ capacity!

actually later in the video, he had left it all weekend (3 nights) and it had only dropped to 10V. apparently they are good caps
