Something slightly similar happened at a shop in town where one of my friends works.
They had a vet up on the lift, pretty damn high, and.... it fell off sideways essentially totalling the car. Don't ask me how this happened but it was apprently on their improperly or something. This one done by one of their "less skilled" workers.

As much as I'd love too have a vette, this is one reason why I don't. If you got a sweet *** ride, people are going to want to drive it. I don't want some moron revving my cars engine or taking it for a joy ride.
Hopefully this guy can get a deal out of this.

Damn this is what i don't like about having a nice car/clean car. NO one respects your stuff, unless they have the exact same thing. Bastard world, my roomate for next year got hit in the parking lot, he was just sitting in his car when some guy in an old rusty POS came by and knocked his drivers side mirror off. Before he knew what hit him (literally) the guy was around the corner, and it was too crouded..

This is exactly why I check my odometer when I drop my car off at the body shop! I know my car isn't comparable to a Vette. But it still is nice, and I've seen some dumbasses who changed my oil at the shop drive fast out of the garage with it. I don't trust anyone else driving my car, especially body shop ppl. I check my miles to see if there are more miles on it when I pick it up. I had the same miles before and after the past two times, so I was happy. But I still worry about them driving it in their lot which is completely packed full of cars. I worry about them banging into other cars all the time.
I hope that guy gets a ton of $$$ out of this. I'd sue if mine even got a dent on it.

It'* horrible, and it'* a hard to find one, so he better get out of it good. I noticed how he changed most of his posts to "This sucks, thank you for all your support." Vettes are my favorite car, and one of the last times i was driving my old car i had a cool experience. It was me in my parents crappy Nova, then a bonneville behind me, and then a vette behind him.. does this mean my next car will be a vette? I hope so...

Actually, the best way to prevent this is to reset your trip odometer, then write down the main odometer reading on two pieces of paper. Leave one on the center console. They'll realize you're watching it. If they toss one, you still have the other.
Under most circumstances, if I'm not doing the work myself, I make arrangements to stay there with the car til it'* done. There are obviously some situations this won't work for. The odometer trick is the best insurance.
