For RWD, i'd take the caprice. The ford taurus seems a bit small and a car between mid size and full size sedan (closer to full size)
The caprice police package however is really what police are looking for. its bigger, stronger, and built better than the taurus.

IMO its the bottom price line. Pontiac was always on top of the style and comfort Dept. It couldn't/didn't want to play the Fleet Sales game. Why wasn't the Bonne ever considered for Police/Service work?... It couldn't be made and offered in that Sales Segment. Millions of Caprice'* and Vickie'* were produced for Fleet and Private sales. Take a look around and see how many drive by you these days compared to Pontiacs. Why? They were junk. A transportation Company I was involved in thru the 90'* used to buy the Caprices up as they ended their service because of price/size. These cars ate our profits up as they continuously fell apart. And not just from parts worn when we got them. Replacement parts fared the same as even more original parts failed. It'* was a matter of GM getting components for them from the lowest vendor bids.

Here in Nebraksa, it is the impalas and Stock Crown Vics in town. For the Highway they have Chargers, Mustangs, and I have heard of an occasional Camaro. They also have Crown Vics sent to the shop. I heard one the other day and all have to say is that it was the last sound I would have expected to come from a Crown Vic. We also have a sprinkling of Durangos, Dakotas, Rams, F250 and 350, Explorers, and Trailblazers (the county I live in only has these for the Sheriff Dpt).
