My local PD uses the Codes a bit differently:

Code1-no lights or siren
Code2-lights, no siren
Code3-lights and siren
Code4-lights/siren priority
Code5-get here yesterday even if you have a perp in the back seat.

I actually got a Code5 ride last year. It was amazing. And I thought my driving was scary. My fingernails are still in the door handle of that car. I got pepper spray in my eyes that night, too.

All the codes vary for each county where I'm at. I work for the county Sheriff'* Department, and here are some of the codes I know and/or use all the time myself:

10-3: Yes.
10-4: Message Understood
10-6: Out of service.
10-7: Back in service.
10-9: Repeat last transmission.
10-18: Anything for me?
10-21: Call me.
10-50: Auto Accident (Levels J1-J4, but can't remember what they are right now.)
10-55: Drunk Subject
10-98: Jailbreak

There are quite a few more, those are just the common ones we use all the time in the jail. I just can't remember them all off the top of my head.

The only unofficial code I can think of is when one of us has another family member with us, we'll use our DSN followed by "plus 1, 2, 3, 4, etc." to tell the other ones how many people are with us. Nothing fancy, but that'* used every once in awhile.

As for the "10-98" code, we use that alot because every Monday morning at 1AM we press a button that sets off a jailbreak alarm. We do that as a test once a week to make sure it'* working. That'* the only reason we use it so often.
