Parking violation

Parking violation
Ok, a little P.O.ed here. I got a parking ticket today parking in a 'non designated' parking spot on campus. Ok, here'* where it ticks me off. When they plow the parking lots they get no where near close enough to the pavement so all the lines are totally covered by snow. Because of this nobody knows how to park so there'* cars all over. I'm very familiar with the parking lot since I park there everyday and park where there SHOULD be a spot. Well, I was close. I was parked at the very end of one of the rows and my two driver'* side tires were sitting where the 'no parking' double lines were (the rest of the car was in a parking spot mind you. I was just over the line). Well, i got there in the morning when there was a snow covering the lot, and went out this afternoon to leave and I have this parking ticket saying "Lines clearly shown. This is a no parking area." Well, fine, but over the course of the 5 hours I was at school the snow MELTED since it got warmer today and wow.. it'* magic. the lines are now revealed!. I can see if I was out in the middle of nowhere, but I was only about 2 foot from where the parking spot should have been. It'* not like I parked there just to do it. argh. Then, for the vehicle description they put "dark brown olds rora." Uh.. It'* brown? News to me. ha. and to top that off, I had a car park SIDEWAYS in front of my car blockign me in. So I had a car behind me, parked over this same line with no ticket, and a car parked sideways in front of me with no ticket, yet I have one. argh. Campus security SUCKS!

Are you going to try to appeal it?

Follow the appeal/dispute process, and kindly explain the circumstances to whoever is in charge. I'd like to think that nobody is so ignorant that they would still stick you with the fine...

Well, Michigan schools are having some funding issues currently, so they are going to want all the money they can get without raising tuition.
My school doesn't like to appeal to often. I hear people argue about it everyday.

CMU was the exact same way. But, DPS was kind enough to entertain all reasonable appeals. I was actually lucky enough to win an appeal.
Follow Scotty'* advice and appeal it. You might just surprise yourself.
When you do the appeal, don't rant and rave at them. Do it in a kind manor, acting innocent. You might be surprised at the outcome.

Absolutely follow the appeals procedure, and absolutely do it in an understanding, courteous manner. I got out of a $100 ticket here at the Iowa State campus because the handicapped spot I accidentally parked in wasn't clearly marked. I should have read the signs better, but you'd be surprised at how lenient people can be if you deal with them kindly. Explain your situation in detail on your appeal form, don't act angry (even though you probably are), and you might be surprised. It'* worth your time!

What could it hurt, right?
