One of the worst things I've ever seen was the next door neighbor'* dumba$$ dog eating a skunk she'd killed a few days before!

Of course, this was even worse:
DeadDeer2.jpg
We'd started to wonder what the smell out by my parent'* creek-side patio. Turns out it was a dead deer stuck in a log jam.

We had to clear the carcass out of the creek to get rid of the smell so we dug a hole up on the bank, and towed the carcass out with the tractor., then buried it.
The last picture was taken about two seconds before the carcass rolled over in the logjam and exposed a huge hole in its stomach. I had to rope it'* head and hold the antlers out where they wouldn't tangle in the sticks. Oh, god, that was the worst thing I've EVER smelled.

I'm starting to smell it again myself. Good thing my lunch usually consists of just smoking tobacco.

JEEEEEEZzzzzz all this talk this AM bout roadkill and dead things laying in the backyard have left me going right for the beer and maybe by dinner I'll feel hungry..The heat has had a bad effect here too with my pond and the lake in front of me at all time lows. We see 90'* like one week out of the year but not this one. The fish keep dieing and washing up to shore and the stench is well.... you know. Been cycling my well pump down till it cavatates trying to keep my pond up and hope we get some rain soon to help out the lake.
