Okay, so I'm a bad firefighter...BUT....
I moved away from my parents' a few months back, but haven't been able to bring myself to resign from the fire department I volunteered with yet. Turns out that'* a GOOD thing. The town'* having a BIG celebration on June 10th. Not only do they need help with the parade, but they also need help with the pancake breakfast plus firefighters onsite for an entire 24 hours! Looks like I get my one last firefighting hurrah!

If any of you are anywhere near DeKalb County that weekend, you should find your way out there and buy pancakes from us! If I remember right, it'* Malta'* bicentennial. Parades, good food, garage sales, fireworks...the whole small-town festival!

Malta is about 5 miles west of DeKalb on Rt. 38. You can't miss it (unless you blink). :P Shabbona Road (aka Taylor Street and South Malta Road) will also take you right there.

I can't promise I can bring my Bonn (it needs major work still, and may be under the knife by then) but I can promise I'll try! I lived in Malta for the first 20 years of my life.

We can probably guilt enough locals into helping out (we put out your barn fire, will you help cook pancakes? ) but I will check. Thanks! The pancakes are awesome, and it'* all you can eat. I can't remember how much it costs, but I think it'* about $7 usually...well worth it! Pancakes, sausages, eggs, cupcakes, cookies, orange juice, coffee, milk...you get the idea. The entirity of the profits go to the fire station. Last year, we bought new SCBA upgrades and replaced the ancient, heavy ones!
