Got a call from a friend of mine he says he can pick up a '95 Grand Am GT with
a bad motor(3100 V6),, ran with coolant in the oil and over heated says it'* junk.
the cars got 147k on the clock and has the following new parts installed recently;
tires
two front struts
both mufflers
the car is pretty clean, power sunroof, air(works),full gauges aftermarket CD player
it'* a black 2 door coupe, trans seems fine.
she worth $500 bucks??

Those cars are **** piles.....Friend had a 94 GT....EVERYTHING was wrong with it, of course he'* the best person to test out durability. He'* quite hard on everything he touches.
You'll pay just as much if not more for a used engine in a salvage yard than you would the whole car.
I suppose if you KNOW that this car has been really well taken care of, then maybe I wouldn't be so leary about it, but, my personal experiences with them.

we had a 95 GA SE with the 3100 in our family and then sold it to my best friend. For the price that they sell and the mpg that they get, it'* not a bad car at all.
I do NOT think that they are crap.

The GA'* are not a bad car at all. It'* just the 3100 had a major problem with the LIM gaskets leaking and causing the rod bearings to rust and kill the engine. I've had 2 3100'* and replaced the gaskets on both due to them leaking. That is most likely how the GA you are considering buying died. If you do buy it and get a 3100 for it, please change the LIM gaskets and it will be a great engine after that.

I think it'* not to bad of a deal with thos newer parts on it,as far as i
know it has'nt been beat on..
the guy won't go lower than $500 bucks because of the tires and struts
he put on.
buddy said he found a motor for $400,so he'd have $900 into it,,blue books $2- 2,100
just thought you fellow gear heads would chime in and state if you'd pay $500
for it....
Havent heard from Boosty yet!!!!!!
