not sure if you figured this one out yet or not im not reading 4 pages. but i have 3 amd 3500 puters in the house 2 desktops and a laptop. plus i just got a new one. and the amd is one thing that got me when i first got them. try running multiple programs and then check..... like when you are just surfing the net it will run at like 1 ghz but if you are surfing, have multi messsangers running and a dvd copy program running all at the same time it will run at 2.2 ghz
all mine are 3500+ 64 bit cpu.
got a killer deal on a 3 ghz p4 last weeek at circuitcity. they had them in the paper for sale when i went in they said they where sold out. so i said i wanta rain check. when they went to type it in. it came back as one left. (shelf model but they didnt know that)
so when i went to pick it up since they where unable to find it. they upgraded me from a 3 ghz celeron to a 3ghz p4. i checked the model i got to the one i was suposta get and i saved a lil over 400$ wahooo. from celeron to p4 and from onboard video to pci express 128 card. and bluetooth ready. and a bunch of other candy!!! that made my day. now the monitor i got with it has a pixel burnt out. im debating on returning it but i alreay got a killer deal.....
but back to topic. i think that the amd pros will sorta downgrade them self when they dont need to use all there power. check that out and see if it works.
