MY ford takes a dive....
#11
Well, I just got home with the truck. After I finally tracked down all my tools (at a friends house 30+ miles from where this happened )Igot back to the truck to see the tire was found and placed in the bed while I was gone. I looked at it and saw where all 5 nuts were pulled thru the rim! Luckly the nuts were still good enough to reuse with the spare rime, although I am planning on replaceing the drum, lugs, and lug nuts very soon now. I eventually got where I was going and got my new fridge and got it home. My bonne is now 20 miles away at my parents house (5 blocks from where this happened).
I got a few pics of the truck wheel (and lack there of...) that I will see if I can post later tonight.
and don't feel bad about laughing. Even though it was my truck that did it and it was a pain in the arse to get it back together on the side of the road, I thought it was funny as hell too! Anyone else ever try driving a full sive pickup thru a curve at 30mph with no outer rear wheel? Now there is an expierence (can you say fishtail?)....!

Hmmm.....this must be Crown Vic Month. A friend of mine(who has a Crown Vic) had the tires rotated by his local mechanic. A few days later he'* driving to one of his clients(he'* a lawyer) and low and behold the left rear of his car goes "clunck"and his tire passes him on the left!!! Fortunately, he maintained control of the car and was able to get it over to the shoulder of the road where he called his mechanic up to come and get him. The tow truck arrives and they couldn't find the tire(it'* probably still rolling down the highway). He was late(and quite pissed), so he had the tow truck driver deliver him to his client'* place. What'* more impressive than be chauffeured in tow truck??!!!
I'm glad we can laugh at these bizarre episodes as long as no one gets hurt.

On a more serious note though, the Vics are getting dangerous because several police officers have been injured by exploding gas tanks (not sure what year)...they need to fix that...fast.

I feel your comical pain!!! I had a thunderbird and had the same thing happen to me as bonnie94sse'* mom. The ball joint came apart a 45 mph on a five lane street in heavy traffic. That was a hard animal to control.
We also had an experience with a pop-up trailer loosing its lug nuts a mere five minutes (at 35 mph) after changing a flat. We had a group of kids (10-16 year olds--about 15 kids total) that my wife, some other "staff", and myself were taking camping down in Virginia. My stupid idea was to take US 250 out of Ohio through West Virginia and into Virginia. US 250 was designed for bikes and Porsches--not for pickups, 15-passenger vans, and pop-up trailers. The owner of the pop-up didn't even bring the appropriate tools to change a flat--thus the second wheel falling off, the lug bolts (not lug nuts)flying into oblivion, and all at 5:05 pm on a Friday in the middle of nowhere, West Virginia. We spent the next day driving 50 miles to the nearest real town to get a very hard to find tire, and a few frustrating hours trying to find lug bolts that would fit. But alas, we were in West Virginia, and there were mobile homes-a-plenty. On a hunch, we stopped at a place that looked like they collected mobile homes and other such novelties--hoping they might also have a pop-up. No such luck on the pop-up, but we did find out that mobile home lug bolts will fit a Jayco pop-up
