just get a honda!!! :P
I like the 3.5 maximas, or 2.5 even...both are VERY reliable, at least the new ones and with higher miles can be had for around 8k more of a 2000 model with 80k or higher.
The diesel jettas get awesome gas miliage and dont look that bad. They get 50mpg as well. he could get a high miles 98 or 99 for 8k.....
You are also safe with most toyotas when you spend 8Gs
it sounds like he does not like grandma cars, nobody I know likes em either but that doesent stop me from driving and buying them.
I'd go for the vette. insurance is not THAT MUCH HIGHER when you are 18 you are going to get raped no matter what.
if not that you could find a nice firebird or camaro, most of those are fairly reliable and hold up to abuse well...

my dad was trying to talk him into a chryler concorde... WTF!!?!?
he started by looking at a yellow corvette
i told him to look away from RWD and something that flashy, the insurance would kill him

he doesnt really care if its fast as long as it look good, for this reason i kinda think he might like a newer stratus r/t

Honestly go for the Vette. Everyone should own one once in their lifetime and being young and having a Vette is a great feeling. I know because I had one at 17. Too bad it would be his daily driver. Maybe pick up a Bonny as a second car! : lol:

He seriously should consider how much money he wants to spend feeding a vehicle. If he'* more into looks than actual performance, he should look at something nice with a 4 or 6 banger.
A Vette has a pretty healthy appetite when it somes time to hit the pump....

or maybe he can find a 2000-2001 for about $8k, I dunno. Maxima resale value isn't as good as that of Camry/Accord, but they're still solid: others' loss = your gain.
