Just how fast are cop cars?
#41
There are police paqckages for cop cars. The new 2004 police package crown vics top speed is about 136MPH. The have police packages because they need to have certified speedometers that can hold up in court when being questioned about speeds. The crown vics have a higher top then the Impala'* or Intrepid'*. In the next six months Ford will decide if the are going to but in the 4.6DOHC engine which is in the mustang as well as the Mercury Maurader. The reason I know this stuff about top speed is because a few close friends as well as family are police officers. Not just in buffalo. The 2004 top speed in the Ford is actually two miles an hour higher then 2003. Nobody knows why. The best police car in the past 15 years was the Caprice. Sooner or later more police agencies are going to need faster cars that are four doors to keep up with more the newer cars

All the cops I know would rather have the old caprice over the Crown Vics.
The new impalas are faster then the crown vics, they have L67'* in them.... They're lighter, but FWD. Nicer all year, but less reliable, not as bombproof, and not cool weight distrabution.
