It'* not the mother****** water pump!
Just so you all know, if you're ever working on a '96 or earlier *-10 with the 2.2 litre 4 cylinder, THE COOLING FAN IS NOT CONNECTED TO THE WATER PUMP.
Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest. Me and a buddy went to two different parts stores today looking for the bearing pack that attaches to the pulley/fan for his pickup, and the jerk-offs at both places tried to tell us the fan was connected to the water pump and we needed a new pump. We finally had to rip open a new Chilton'* to show them the picture with the caption that says "97 and newer models have the fan bolted directly to the water pump. 96 and earlier models have the water pump in a different location than the fan."
If the retards could have tried to understand what we were saying, rather than convince us that we were wrong and it was, indeed, a water pump, we may have spent some money at their places of business. As it turns out, we're going to the junkyard early tomorrow to get a used assembly. God, sometimes I hate people!

Had the same thing when I replaced the fan clutch on my 96 S10, they told me I needed to buy a whole new water pump because the clutch and the pump were one piece. I asked them to just look up the part number they wouldn't.
I went to the next autoparts store a mile down the road, they had the fan clutch sitting on the shelve wich I promptly bought, then went to the other autoparts store and showed them an S10 fan clutch seperate from the water pump.

Yup! That'* why it helps if you get to know which employees at the parts stores actually know what they are talking about. Plus, it helps if you already know exactly what you need, as in, getting the info from BC or someplace similar before going.
Been there, done that.
