Make sure you do the salt rinses and everything. I did but it still didn't help me. All 4 of mine were impacted so I went into the hospital to have mine done. All of them got dry socket and I ended missing 2 weeks of school because of the excruciating pain. Not to scare anybody but make sure you take care of those suckers.

Oh yeah, you have to follow everything they tell you to the letter. You can't afford to have dry sockets if you can help it (which sometimes you just can't). Cleanineg them out is really important too, no matter how gross it gets.

I don't remember any of mine either. I got the IV for it and the last thing I remember was getting the IV on my arm. I don't remember anything besides waking up on my couch. another cause of dry socket is using a straw for anything-just don't do it!

Smoking is really a no-no. You create more suction pulling a drag than pulling a straw. This would be a good excuse to quit also.

He ain't kidding!! When I had the last 2 pulled, I walked out to the car and lit a cigarette, against thier advice. Turns out they weren't BSing abut no smoking, no straws, etc...

Two days later I was back getting a dry socket packed.....

I had mine out a year and a half ago, got the gas too. What was cool was how I seemed to have "time warped". I remember sitting in the chair, and the doc putting the gas mask on my face and told me to count to ten, so I took a DEEP breath, counted 1, 2, 3,.... and I went out. Next thing it was 2 hours later and had to get up, but it felt like I just sat down 30 seconds ago!

I never took the painkillers though, that **** is bad for you. The pain wasnt that bad after one or two days.

Lol. Your story sounds similar to mine but I had the IV instead. I also didn't use the Vicodin I was prescribed. They prescribed a strong dose because all four of mine were impacted but I never used any of it oddly enough. I ended up throwing the pain killers away. I'm sure there would have been plenty of people who would have loved to get their hands on them though. :?

Ooooh, that is painful!!! The gas is good stuff though. My dentist makes sure I'm bouncing off the ceiling before he gives me the novacaine and then he sends me home with lortabs. He is a really good dentist. I hope you feel better quickly.

Did all 4 semi impacted at one time. Like MOS I got the shot, and Dr.had to break one around a nerve. For those of you that gassed it.. The doc gets up on the chair over you and puts an arm on your forehead while pulling with all his might on the pliers.

I reached up and helped him out. Figured if he was a weakling I would speed things up a bit.

4 Teeth in about 20-30 minutes I think. Then sit in recovery room for another 15 min.

I took the anitbiotics and whatever else they said, also followed his advice on one thing. He said to fill the prescrips, get home..take one pain killer and one antiobiotic...go to bed.
Slept off the first 12 hours after getting them pulled. Never needed another pain killer.
