Lounge For casual talk about things unrelated to General Motors. In other words, off-topic stuff. And anything else that does not fit Section Description.

I certainly don't deserve it.... but thank you!

Before I recap the story, is this an adjustable shift modulator?

If it is, that modulator working with the Transgo shift kit is going to put a smile on that face. Enough to make you drop that cigar.

Matt and I both did the combination. It'* nice.

In a nutshell, all members registered on or BEFORE October 19th EXCEPT Ben and Hans saw a new section appear when logged in. The section was titled 'Pay it Forward'. The introductory post:

DON'T SHARE OR LEAK THIS INFORMATION TO EITHER OF THESE BOZOS!

Why?

Read on.

This Forum has been about people helping people for a LONG time. This was started by our founder, and has been pursued with a vengeance by the Staff and members of this forum ever since. And we have a couple cool things going on behind the scenes that we should all have the opportunity to participate in.

big_news_1
(ben) has long been a fantastic person and strong contributing member of this Forum. His attitude and character have impressed many. While I haven't met him personally, I have spoken on the phone with him. The impact he'* had on members have sparked some to want to help a person making a big personal and financial sacrifice to better his life. And a failing transmission is looming......so a couple members of this Forum put their heads together, and decided to do something for him. And one of them drives a Ford, not a Bonneville.

For those that need a bit more info on Ben, he'* the author of this:

The Bonneville Coxswains

Ben wrote this article with his HEART. It sums up what he feels about this Forum.
I'll leave it to others in this topic to write more about WHO Ben is and what he means to us.

Join us (along with a prominent Vendor) in trying to do something cool for Ben. His transmission needs some help, and we can help make it happen. There are others that may need help too, but this is just a new beginning. Let'* show what this Forum is capable of. More details will follow.

Hans
Hans is the potato-head that opened his doors to the cars heading to WCBF from the nether-regions. He literally made the trek possible for at least 5 members. He fed them, housed them, and made sure they had their rest. But it'* his CHARACTER and personality that draws people to him. Unlike Ben (above), I've actually met Hans. Nothing sticks to him. Insults and bad karma roll off him like melted butter off of a teflon pan. He was a class act at WCBF.

And then THIS happened:
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=64625

Regardless of his positive attitude, members have come forward (privately) wanting to show their moral support for a class act.

-----------------------------

Both of these members are good people. Among the best. I have the greatest respect and admiration for both. I see this as an opportunity to pay it forward. Let the attitude and personality of all of us reflect what this Forum is about.

At this point, I'm starting 2 new topics below this one, and leaving it to the members here to take it to the next level. MyLittleBlackBird and Harofreak00 for the effort on Ben'* behalf, and driverjohn2005 on Hans'* behalf.

To make it REALLY work, our site Treasurer, Mike1995 will be starting a post here as well in the next 24 hours with specific instructions on how to help/donate towards the benefit of both of these members.

When the time comes, and arrangements are made, don't feel badly or anything else negative if you can't afford more than $10, $20, or less or more, or don't feel it'* justified. What YOU feel is right, is what'* right for you. What YOU feel is appropriate will be respect by all.

When the time comes, and the links and instructions are up, all donations are PRIVATE and will not be shared by the Treasurer, not even with the Admins or the Site Owner. This is your choice, and purely confidential.
There was alot more said, but in a nutshell, the Hans idea came from driverjohn2005 initially, and the BigNews thing was already percolating in the background between MyLittleBlackbird, Harofreak00, and the Staff. When the opportunity arose, we seized it and combined both efforts. The ideas are primarily credited to those I just mentioned, but MANY more members jumped in with organizing, fund-raising ideas, donations, words of encouragement, ideas, and good old-fashioned cheering.

Many more comments were made on behalf of both of these recipients, but those will remain private unless the authors of those comments wish to share them here.

In a nutshell, we saw two members in need, and both are outstanding characters. Why not?

We may do it again some day. Time will tell.

I don't think I have anything to hide from any of my posts... So I think you can go ahead and publicly display it if you wish.

I'm a member of a few forums myself, too. And you won't see something like this anywhere else. This is a unique place.
