Yes Thank You Jim...
I'm sure there will be another thread on this issue... Somewhere...
How about next time we look at what is happening now... and what is being done to help these people...
I hope that the lost will be reunited with their families... And for the people that lost their lives, may they rest in peace untill the day thay can be reunited with their loved ones..

Well.....I just read through the thread in question, and if it'* alright to say so.....I can see how everyone thought you were making a racial suggestion. I mean....nothing in your post was there to indicate that you weren't in complete agreement with what Kanye said. Just a racial statement quoted, with a brief show of agreement. Nothing to indicate you questioned Kanye'* reasoning behind why it took so long. So.....if your comments look like they're supporting a racial quote......how is anyone supposed to know you thought otherwise? I don't see how people were supposed to take it as anything other then that. And what else were people supposed to comment on when the main focus of the quote was turning the delayed aid into a racial issue?
I'm still new here, so perhaps this is out of place, but.... I think it'* just a matter of you needed to articulate what you were trying to get across bette, that'* all. I don't see why this would be reason to leave. Why doesn't everyone just...apologize about the misunderstanding and move on?
By the way......DAMN you guys have a lot of smilys.

Well said Jim.
And Steve, maybe I'm going against the general consensus, and maybe I'll take flak for this, but it'* good to see people speaking their mind. There are too many sheep in this world. Maybe posting that on a message board wasn't the best idea, but as it'* been said, it is now water under the bridge.

Steve,
I agree with the high school drama reply. 100%.
I pm'd you for one simple reason. I asked you to keep the racial crap off the forum, and to THINK BEFORE YOU POST. Obviously, the second part of my PM didn't sink in.
THINK BEFORE YOU POST.
Are you really that dense Steve? Seriously? When did we ever ban a member for speaking his mind? THINK BEFORE YOU POST. I can count the number of bans on no more than the 10 fingers on my hands.

I know that I will get banned for this but if it is because I am speaking my mind, so be it..

That was indeed an uncalled-for comment on his part, Matt. I have family and friends all over the South.
This is why I've been stressing THINK BEFORE YOU POST for some time now.

I'm really having a lot of problems with the way this whole Katrina aftermath is playing out, your President is (or was) not taking the disaster seriously enough, response was slow, warnings were not heeded.
New Orleans was in essense a disaster waiting to happen, the fact that is has happened simply emphasizes the lack of preparation on the part of City planners, the miliatary and the people itself.
As for the looting, nothing you can do about that, I have serious problems with it...serious serious problems with it. Poverty and disasters don't mix well, fuel it with easy access to firearms makes a situation ever more a problem
God damn firearms, I really really wish you people with stop with the darn guns, oh and that plasma TV you stole....what house do you plan on plugging it into?
But my personal views aside, lets focus on this site and what kinda conduct is allowed.
A certain level of opinion is more then welcome, however, recently its gone to far, threads like this just cause attention to ones self, which is generally not needed here. Steve, you made your claim, stated the opinion its water under the bridge
Lets move on people.

I haven't read the post that lead up to this. I may get to it later...this is the one that I find more interesting. We live in a free society, for which we should be thankful. However, hand in hand with freedom comes responsibility. We can speak our minds (or someone else'* mind apparently in this case) as long as we are ready to accept the consequnces of our statement. If not, then follow Bill'* sound advice of "think before you speak".
All of us here come from different areas, backgrounds, nationalities, and political backgrounds. We each have our views which are going to conflict with someone else'* views. There are also rules of this group (as well as "common sense") that the moderators and administrators are responsible for policing. Anything less will have this group spiral down into anarchy...and where have we seen that as of late?
You spoke your mind; they did their job. You can "pick up your ball and go home", or you can stick around and be responsible. The choice is yours.
I could say that'* my 2 cents worth...but it was really more like a quarter.

WOW!
First, I have read the tread that lead to this, & not to reopen a wound but isn't this
the lounge? For casual talk about things unrelated to Bonnevilles. In other words, off-topic stuff. Steve posted a topic regarding a artist that used his opportunity to voice HIS opinion on the lack of urgency that seemed to plague this tragedy.
Now I not going to say that Kanye West did the right thing at the right time. I'm guessing he agreed to a script but used his time instead to exercise his 1st amendment.
So now we have Steve using a forum for off topic stuff to post an agreement with a persons bad judgement of time to say what was on his mind. WELL WELL. That was Bad. Right? :?
Second, I also agree with what Mr West had to say. But I don't know if President Bush cares for Black people or not. But prior to the hurricane hitting it was stated that aid was in the area ready to help after the hurricane was over. What a lot of people have came to notice before & after Kanye made his statement was that the help was not there & when it finaly arrived it was not enough & in no kind of order.
I have family in all 3 areas & this is how they broke it down.
After the storm they were asked to leave their homes for safety. & told that at the dome they would have food & shelter. So now they arrive to find no more run. No health care
for the injuried and/or sick. No shelter. No order. & soon no more food or water. & thats by day two.
So now after two more days of sitting on the ground over whelmed by the foul order of urine, human waste, & die bodies. & not beening able to get any sleep you still have not
receive the help & aid that was advised you would have. It'* hot, your tired, your hungry, your dirty, your scared, & it seems like no one cares if you live or die. I ask yall, What would You DO? You get angry. You will steal to eat. Now people are yelling & fighting like animals. But that'* how they have been living for the past 3-4 days. & whats
funny is that people wonder why they are doing this.
Take any animal out of its home, don't fed it, don't shelter it, don't care for it, & let if sit
in the heat with other animals & throw a piece of meat at them after 3-4 days & see
what happens.
Now the help you thought had arrived is given the right to shoot to kill! The food is not given out it is dropped from a helicoptor for the people, oops I'm sorry they use the term REFUGEES, to fight over. People are dying around you, kids are crying for food & water, there is no comunication, you have no idea how long this will continue, & all you
want is what was told you would get.
Third, You have the press showing all this & the only faces that seem to appear on the
screens are black faces. You tell me what think?
Steve may not have started that tread to say that this was a race thing. I don't know. But like he said he never once said race. That issue was asumed by the members that stated that. Due to Steve'* agreement with another mans statement. Interesting......
I do agree with Jim W. some what. But how can we learn to unite after a tragegy if
we all just move on & not address the issues. There was a problem how the help to the citizens not refugeees ( PLEASE! ) is being handle & people are dying because of that problem. & if we just move on we will never find out what it was!
Answer this question! Do yall think the country is more or less united after 9/11?
Love yall, I'm out..............
