Parents of really smart over achieving girls often times have shaped them to be that way and really want them to marry doctors or rocket scientists. Most really smart girls that i know who did amazingly in school have psychotic parents.

If marriage is in view (which is why we date, right?) you will notice alot of thing simply from the maturity differences. My wife and I are just 3 years apart, and sometimes her naivity really gets to me. It'* really hard to see eye-to-eye on things because of how much more experience in life I have than her.

Now, for me, I've had quite the life that I super learned alot from. All the psychologists I've seen say I have the life experience of a 40-45 year old, and my wife never even lived on her own even though she was 22 when we married.

But, the idea is still there. You will notice alot of incompatibilities simply from the difference of maturity, mark my words.

i 100% agree with this statement, in the parents view, education is #1 and NOTHING else matters to them. and when their daughters want to get out and live their life, they freak out.

My daughter turned 18 yesterday. HECK NO !!!.

BUT my daughter has no clue. Age difference is realitive. It depends on how old you feel and act. The problem is her parents are not going to see her as an adult for quite some time. The girl needs to "expierence the world" before settling down. Now you and she may not be thinking settling down but trust me that is what her parents are thinking.

And on another note.....She is NOT and adult in the eyes of all laws. Yes she can go to jail for breaking the law and have a criminal record but.... if she gets drunk and kills someone her parents can still be held responsible until she is 21. Please don't mistake a sense of maturity for adulthood.

My wife and I had our daughter when we were 18 and we gave up alot, college, etc. to raise her together.

I am not nagging, I know personally people with "huge" age differences that are quite happy. I just want to make sure you're not too hard on the parents. You can NEVER know the feelings of a parent until you are one.

ummm, what? In what state are a legal adult'* parents liable for their actions? Sorry but once you're eighteen, you are 100% liable legally for your own actions, and no-one else. The only exceptions are situations like mental handicaps, where the parent is the legal guardian of an incompetent adult.

Once the girl'* over eighteen, it'* really up to her who she wants to go out with. So, ask her.

I live in Ny. My brother in law hit a girl crossing the street and he still lived at home at 19. My father in law was sued. My father in law had to get his own lawyer his son had to get one too. The son had nothing so suing the dad was the most profitable option. My father in law won, she was drunk and j-walking.

You might want to look that up. At least here in Ny you can be held financially responsible for the debts and actions of you under 21 child.
