How important is your smartphone?
Yes, I discriminated against the regular cell phones.
Smartphones have come a long way in the way of technology and how they perform.
I use mine on a daily basis besides typical communication. On a secondary, using Gmail, Hotmail, Facebook, mp3 player, Tapatalk, and IBAuto to keep track of forums while on the go. I also uploaded about a 1000 company maps to my phone so I can reference them on the go while at work. (I work for Chesapeake Energy).
If you have a smartphone, besides normal communication, what else do you use it for?
If I ever lost mine, holy cow things would come to a screeching halt.

I manage people all around the world, and I get emails 24 hours a day. Without email on my smart phone I would have to carry my laptop with me and be logged in at all times. My smart phone also give me access to our company'* global address book, which allows me to get contact information for anyone I need to speak to.

I use mine for navigation (Tom Tom), facebook, checking the weather, a meteor shower app to remind me of upcoming meteor showers, I occasionally use it to take pics, as my I-Phone 4S takes almost as good pics as my Nikon Coolpix 4800.
I have become used to having a smartphone, a few weeks back my old one broke, and I temporarily went back to my old plain phone, and when I checked a voice-mail I tried to touch the screen where it said OK, lol
I quickly realized how spoiled and dependent I had become!

We just got Galaxy S3 phones forced on us at work. I pine for the simplicity of the Blackberry 9700, which lasted me 5yrs.
Personally, the touchscreen drives me up a wall. So I use it for corporate email when I'm out of the office, and a phone. Other times it'* used as a convenient paperweight as necessary.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot using my phone to monitor my car on trips, I have DashCommand, I use it via Bluetooth atm, not the fastest way to transfer data, but it works to monitor a few PID'*..
DashCommand - Palmer Performance Engineering, Inc.
I also use their Scan XL Pro, but only when at home, as I do not have a Laptop to run it on yet.

My phone is also my Camera, GPS, MP3 Player, and key fob for my car. I use it for email, meetings, video calls, tracking vehicle maintenance, web browsing, gaming, banking, etc.
The lines between phone/tablet/computer have sure gotten thin.
