How about GM
They had an ad in an august isside of road and track ( I just picked up at the library) that talked about how 30 years ago they were at the top of their game, and 20 years ago they weren't.
Now going to this car commercial http://www.chevrolet.com/library/commercials/ and seeing all the new cars, new lines, and upgrades (Bonneville GXP for one) what'* next? I'm thrilled the general is back in a big way, and I think the next 10 years could have some of the best american cars ever. Heck, they're putting remote start on cars, compact cars have 140 horse now, and power is in at GM.

Sorry to sound like a dip$hit, but anyone who thinks GM is going in the right direction is on the pipe.......
Ok lets see here. Ugly Aveo, European Malibu, Slower GP, Betrayed C6 Vette. Oh yeah but its all ok, since now GM sells a V8 bonneville.........which is FWD.......same speed at L67..........more gas consumption.....but at least it sounds better......
GMC Canyon, is THE best engine innovation so far in the automotive industry, at least GMC is going in the right direction. More powerful cars? My rear end.
Listen, we are NOWHERE near the competition. Name a sedan that competes with the G35 in 0-60 ? (5.9s manual) BMW 330i (6.1s) Oh? None? Oh ok cool.
GM needs a RWD Bonneville, with 340+ hp, and 0-60 in low 5'* to ride back to the top again. None of this high 6'* $hit. Sorry boys, its true. We may have been a ahead when the L67 first came out, but now, stock, it gets whooped on hard by alot of the new cars. Not to mention these new vehicles with the compression so high, with exhaust mods theyre seeing increases of like 10+ wheel horsepower.
GM is not heading in the right direction. DONT even get me started on the 7 second SSR for $40k.

isnt the colorado the same thing as the cayon?? I think that post was a little out of line... SSR is more then that, and you have yet to explain why it bad? because the people that will buy them are 65 year old retired money bags that dont like the corvette and would rather a neat little truck that reminds them of the 'good ole days'

I like the new C6 (except for the headlights), but I believe the Malibu doesn't look as good anymore.
Plus I'm not too sure about the SSR'* 0-60 times. I saw a show that focused on it a while ago and it was tested at 0-60 in 8.1 seconds (1/4 mile around 16). But sources on the internet say 7.0 from 0-60 and 15.4 1/4 mile. It does way a LOT, and it is pretty cool looking. If only GM made the GTO more retro.
EDIT: I have mixed feelings about the G6. The tail lights resemble those from a Tiburon.

gtos just a F-body driveline with a differnt shell...
The ssr is 4700lbs which is considerably less then large GM suvs with the same engine (with 10less hp)
Stats from GM:
Performance
0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) (seconds): 7.6
¼-mile (seconds): 15.9 @ 90 mph

Did you know the fastest production car in the 1/4 was an */* Cuda? It ran 10.5 from the factory beating the enzo. The 427 vette was at 10.9 stock. Look at that beauty, whoa.......

The GTO isn't an F body driveline, it'* more of a vette driveline then anything...
The G35 is a pure sport coupe. hell that'* the same thing as the 350z. It'* nearly the price of the corvette, and it'* not as fast as a vette. You say that they need to be more like imports, yet the "European malibu" isn't good enough?
The cuda was built to do the 1/4, and nothing else. I've never seen that number personally, but it'* not relevant to the equation.
If you don't like GM just say so, but they're going to take over the place. Bonnevilles' once only had 165 HP, now they are almost double that. So it'* not the newest engine but the 3800 Series II does what it needs to, why change it? Malibu has remote start, the c6 vette (especially z06 next year) will knock the socks off the viper. The GTO is the start of a second muslce revolution. Other makers are following.
Dodge'* styling isn't going forward, they're just getting ugly, Ford doesn't have many new vehicles, and is doing too much with their new truck then their car segment.
GM isn't going to jump to #1 right away, this is just the first step. In 5 years, ever car will probably have more power then now, handle better, and have improved electronics.
