High mileage, high repairs, you get what you pay for.
I was watching an episode of Peoples Court today, and there was this case where this woman had purchased a 1997 Buick Century with 205,000 miles from an auction. She apparentely claimed that the car sales man that took her to an auction, DIDN'T sale her the car, but took her there to find a vehicle to buy, owed her the cost of the car, and the repairs to the car AFTER she bought the vehicle. I was laughing my *** off at this woman. I would have loved to have been in that court room to give her an example of buying a car with high mileage. You get what you pay for. My Bonneville ITSELF is 8 years old, and yes it has over 250K on it... If I were to sell it to anyone I would let them know, "hey the car is 8 year old, has over 250,000 miles on it, and it may need advanced mechanic repairs down the road" WTF is up with people today thinking they can get something for nothing . When you buy an "AS-IS" vehicle...thats JUST what your getting. She should have taken a mechanic with her to the auction, but to have the audacity to try to SUE the man that offered to help her look for a vehicle because he didn't have anything on his lot in her price range. Which was BTW $2,500 :? I would have slapped her with a counter suit for all the court fees, ect that the car sales man was out after the case. I'm glad the judge made her an example and awarded her nothing, but I think the woman that took the car salesman to court should have at least compensated for the salesmans legal losses.

eahc person on those shows walks away with about 5000, and the most you can sue for in small claims court is 3000 I think. so no matter what, those people come out ahead.

Jeez. I bought a 1990 Chevy K1500 Silverado 4x4 so I could take my Bonnie off the road during winters. It'* got 140,000 miles on it and I knew before I got it that it was going to need repairs in the near future, but I was willing to pay for them because it'* still cheaper than a new car! Lo and behold, my first day on the road with it...the radiator blew. The diagnosis: bad radiator, bad water pump, bad hoses, bad fan clutch, bad thermostat, and bad temperature guage.
$400 in parts and I didn't want to sue the guy...I just wanted to dump the radiator on his lawn because some of these problems were caused by that radiator stop leak powder crap that I hate so much
I behaved myself, btw...the rad was properly disposed of.

Re: Television
Well I know that those shows are set up. It still pisses me off to see someone do something so stupid. It'* like the McDonald'* case on obesity.

Not only are people like that very stupid, but if she paid $2500 for that car she got ripped off pretty bad IMO. You can find SIGNIFICANTLY nicer cars in that pricerange.
