Default Haro.... part 4?

After leaving a subdivision we are looking to build a house in, I followed my wife out to get dinner. I had to wait for a car to go by, then by the time I get to where I would have caught up to her, which happened to be the top of a big *** bluff, she was gone. Where the hell... so I continue down the big *** bluff, and I find her, on the side of the road, in front of a cop. Appearantly, it seems, the speed limit is 35 on the hill. I know I was doing like 60 at the bottom and was on the brakes the whole time. Nikki did a better job of keeping the speed down, but only by 9 mph. She got her very first ticket for 51 in a 35. I figured she'd be crying, but she was pissed. Trying to keep her speed down, she still gets pulled over by this punk cop sitting at the bottom of a hill just waiting for people that don't want to warp their rotors going down this damn hill. Seems like entrapment to me.

Yeah last week a cop got me for doing 63 in a 45 zone. It was one of those tricky placed where the speed goes from 55 to 35 then back to 55. Little did I know they changed the limit to 45 then 55 1/2 mile later. Cop claims it has been that way for a year and a half but I know better. Anyway he runs my license and come back and give me a ticket for no insurance proof but says he will let me slide on the speeding.

Guess I should be happy. Well drove past there yesterday and they now have Orange flags over each 45mph sign now.

Unfortunately, it ain't entrapment. They don't force or trick anyone into speeding there.

It'* BS!! A big hill like you describe. But it ain't entrapment. Probably either aan eager rookie trying to show how many tickets he can write, or a lazy vet who justs wants to take it easy, yet be able to show something for the day.

The other option is, you don't want to live there. The neighbors are whiners who run to the local council or authorities or whatever everytime somebody looks at them wrong. There'* a couple of streets in my neighborhood where you don't go any over because the people that live on that street have complained enough that they just about have their own police force just to shut them up. I talked to one of the cops running radar there once, and he hated having to sit there and run radar when he could be elsewhere taking care of real problems. But, if there ain't a cop on the street whenever the block leader looks outside, they call the station, and so do all their neighbors...

As unbelievable as it sounds, MyLIttleBlackBird has been a good influence on my habit of speeding. We actually stayed within 1-2mph of the posted limits all the way to Ohio and back, and it was great. Gas mileage was good (31mpg on the way there!), and we still made decent time.

I would encourage everybody to take their foot out of the throttle a little bit and stick to the speed limits. Who cares if the cars around you are in a hurry? That'* their problem. Like Doug always says, "You won't get a speeding ticket if you're not speeding."

It'* spring...everyone'* hormones get going with normal cycles and speeding is a by product. Law enforcement knows there'* a few times of the year to be on the lookout.

Spring
Fall
Holiday season

It'* a given..

I personally like the "flow of traffic" theory. A phrase we used to use when I was running radar, when someone would ask "How come you didn't stop so-and-so?" (especially since if we stopped him, he was the fastest so-and-so of the group), was "You ever been fishing? You ever catch all of 'em?"

If you're flowing with the group, it narrows your chances down of being "the one".

But, in general, I tend to stay within 10 MPH of the limit highway, 5 on surface streets. I just feel safer that way. Unless some jerkoff decides that ain't enough, then I get real law abiding....

I used to live in Hillsboro NH where the cops were young and they used their power. I would get stopped on this stretch of highway at least once every other week by some young rookie who couldnt even grow facial hair. I know what your saying, I should have known about the hot spots and slow down, and i agree, but I usually got stopped going 7-8 sometimes 9 over the limit. it wasnt like I was racing anyone or just flying to get home or to work (who races to get to work?) No mater what, I would ALWAYS get a ticket Always!!

I eventually lost my license for 3 months after attending a hearing before the DMV magistrate. She said she was doing me a "favor" because I was looking at a full year suspension Bastards!!

Just about everyone I knew out there had lost their license for one reason or another, and if your under 21 and you get stopped for a moving infraction, you lose your license for 30 days no if'* and'* or butt'*. Oh and dont ever become a habitual offender, because then your looking at Jail time. 6 months for your 1st offense 1 yr for your second and so on. I was half way there before I ended up moving out of NH and you know what? I never got another speeding ticket again!! Damn po po'*!!
