You might fight it and win if you can find someone thats on the townboard/city council thats also a lawyer. They don't tend to loose esp when they have clout witht he judge.

I got out of a speeding ticket in court (the only time I ever got a speeding ticket) **looks for wood to knock on
There was no speed limit sign for 7/10th'* of a mile down the road I had turned on to so I proceeded doing the previous roads speed limit. The judge confirmed that with the cop and dropped the ticket. That cop was so mad!! I got out of that town as quick as I could.
I've been fortunate to get out of a few tickets since owning the 91 SSE (prior to that speeding was never a problem for me ) One cop just pulled up along side of me and pointed at me as if to say "You know you were speeding and I could pull you over," I nodded and slowed down. Another cop pulled me over and I apologized, told him I wasn't paying attention, then mentioned I was in a rental car. He didn't like hearing that. I knew if I mentioned I worked in insurance I was a dead duck but fortunately he let me go
ELMACHOGERACHO- you are gonna have to just pay the ticket because you don't have any defense. You were speeding and that is that. In the off chance he had laser you wouldn't have had much notice to slow your happy *** down anyhow. My detector has all those bands even "pop" and lucky for me I don't go anything over 9 mph over the speed limit (98% of the time). I have been trying to use my cruise control to help get better gas mileage so when my detector goes off I don't worry about it.

my suggestion, just pay it, talk to the prosecutor, however he may be not inclined to help you out since you've done the same thing already.

Pacing is absolutely legal here, from the speedo, not hash marks.
The hash marks on the freeway in Oregon are used for State Police aircraft to determine speed from the air.
