hard drive repaired 100%--update--see last post
hi im on a friends laptop right now that i borrowed untill i fix mine... last night i opened my laptop and turned it on only to see a screen that was´nt normal.. it was i believe a windows error screen... this is exactly what it says word for word.
we appoligize for the inconvience but windows did not start successfully. a
recent hardware or software change might have caused this.
if your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose last known good configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked
if a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because
the power or reset button was pressed, or if you aren´t sure what caused the problem, choose start windows normally.
safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode with command prompt
last known good configuration your most recent settings that worked
start windows normally
use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.
ME NOW: so when i tried to pick any of those restart options they give me all it does it attemp to start windows and then go back to that same screen and ask me again to choose a way to start windows......
has anyone had this problem or can tell me how to fix it. my laptop is a toshiba satellite with 100 gb memory 2.something proccessing speed i think. but its good i paid $1100 at best buy.. but they want me to send it in and wait 4 to 6 weeks for a repair because they cant tell me whats wrong i have to send it to toshiba necause its not a best buy made peoduct they told me.. i bought it 3 years ago so my warranty is now void but the laptop is still like new....

remote diagnosis and repair maybe long and hard. many of us (me included) would gladly take your laptop, safely copy all data off, and repair or reinstall. First thing to try is turn off wireless in bios and see if it boots.

It sounds like you did a couple recent updates that the computer was not liking basically.
So now your only way of starting up windows is booting from a Windows cd, or using a recovery cd to reset the computer if you have got one, or use the Windows cd to reinstall windows.
When you send it away, thats what the techs will probably do, or they might just trash that hard drive and reinstall a new one and charge you a fews hundred bucks.
What were the most recent updates you did to the computer?
Such as graphics card drivers, or something from windowsupdate.com.
Any new programs installed within the past month?

I realize it doesnt start when you choose safe mode from the options that appear at startup. Have You tried hitting F8 from the beginning before You actually get the screen you are seeing? Where'* John Collier when ya need him. He brought mine back to life by linking to it over the internet. But I could F8 into safe mode.
