Default GP site HACKED

My buddy has a Grand Prix and is in the Ontario Quebec CGP. He was telling me the site got hacked and all the forum postings and everything was wiped out.

Pretty scary, life would be pretty empty with out the bonneville club.

Keeping the site up-to-date as far as security patches from pHpBB group is probably a good defense.

Our best defense would be a backup of the database.. say every day and/or week.

You can never make a site 100% secure.... but you can prepare for the worest.

His hosting company probably makes backups incase something happens, and probably has some elaborate firewalls too. But if an admin can get in to change something, so can a hacker.

Yes, there are provisions in place. For obvious reasons, I won't go into details, but regular backups are made and kept off-site. Never trust that your hosting company will make backups. I know of several that claim to make backups but never do. For that reason, plus the fact that I am the only one with access to my server, I always perform my own backups.
