for the record i can afford to keep my car but to be honest im sick and tired of gm'* reliability issues. i dont care how i drive, the recommended transmission lifetime shouldn't be 90k miles on a $40,000 car. among other things. i shouldnt have to replace a steering rack and pinion on my dads car thats never been driven hard in its life and my headgaskets shouldnt be going at 130k when the car has never been run hot.and the stereo air conditioning and power windows shouldnt randomly stop working in my moms century. and the windows shouldnt stop working on just about every gm model once a year.
ive given gm the benefit of the doubt several times, but i have yet to see an instance where a gm car isnt nickel and diming its owner. whilst my girlfriends $18k civic keeps on truckin with 135k miles on it and the worst thing thats happened to it is the battery died after 9.5 years. and she drives her car a helluva lot harder than i would ever let someone drive mine.
so, to answer your statement, i have the money to keep my car, i dont have the desire. every gm car post 1997 has been garbage. i shouldn't have to spend $500 between every oil change.
at this point i have $7,000 in repairs just to make it stock in less than 2 years. i was a diehard gm fan till i saw their shitty craftsmanship of the 21st century. i think the 7000 in good faith money says that pretty well.
and looking at new cars- gm wont even warranty they're cars as if they themselves expect them to last.
go to a Mitsubishi dealer and ask them what the warranty on a base model crappy *** fwd lancer is. 100,000 miles, or ten year powertrain, 5 yr bumper to bumper, 7 year rust.
the best you can get with a cruze is 6 year rust, 5 yr 100,000 for everything else, and you have to pay EXTRA for that. if you dont pay extra, its 3 yr 36,000.
the bottom line is gm is in the toilet as a brand. the last time they showed any pride in their work was before the 1997 model year. my whole life i was raised thinking gm gm gm but even my grandfather who would never let a foreign car in his driveway traded in his lucerne for a camry because it had so many issues.

Also, on an unrelated note, did GM change their warranties? My 2007 Av, my mothers 2008 Impala, and my gf'* 2009 Impala were all warrantied the same. 36k/3 year bumper to bumper. 100k/5yr power train. I just looked it up on their website, looks like they still do that.

The Grand Prixs complete engine rebuild is already under way. The engine has been pulled from the car. I'm not doing it. My mechanic is. I'm having the heads and plenum ported.
Too bad I won't be able to stop and check in how it'* going. I'm leaving for Alaska for about 2 weeks. I'm already getting excited about driving this car.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings. The way you talked about your car made it seem like it was a financial burden, yet you were getting ready to drop $$$ on a video game. You're also still young yet (under 20 right?), and I've seen this time after time from people in the Military. I was just taking my experiences and matching it to they way YOU made things seem.
Also, on an unrelated note, did GM change their warranties? My 2007 Av, my mothers 2008 Impala, and my gf'* 2009 Impala were all warrantied the same. 36k/3 year bumper to bumper. 100k/5yr power train. I just looked it up on their website, looks like they still do that.

as for the warranty, i made the mistake of doing the get a quote thing on the gm website, and since about june nomatter what i say to them the dealer keeps harassing me via phone call. so one day i asked what the warranty on a cruze base model was and thats what they told me. it could have been the wrong info or the dealer could have messed with the warranty, i dunno. but if i were given the choice id go with the evo right now. i cant stand mitsu i think the car itself is too small and ugly as all hell, but a ten year warranty is hard to pass up. not that ill make enough to buy the only evo id ever own which is the evo lancer with the 2nd engine down from the top. same top speed, less acceleration better fuel economy.
as for money, its true money is tight but im making enough off of the gf'* coworkers... seems that everyone in the scientific community makes good money but drives shitty cars and they arent interested in getting new ones.... so till i can find a job (which admittedly i have been looking alot less and focusing alot more on getting grants and applying at tech schools for next year) thats keeping a decent amount of money in my pocket.
for the record i wouldn't pay 110 for this game if i thought it would affect my daily life. but the ps3 i had a choice of $300 store credit or less than $200 cash way back when so the credit has just been sitting there. and forza is about the only game i play. im addicted to racing games and forza is the only simulator on xbox.
on the forza subect, heres a few random cars... not sure why they added the sonic or h1 but whatever lol. if you zoom in you can read the descriptions. i am immensely looking forward to that syclone
